Red Nickel

Red Nickel: Deceptive behavior

The reviewer thinks users are being misled. The listing promises something the extension doesn't do, the extension does something the listing doesn't mention, or the name or branding imitates someone else.

The fix: rejected โ†’ fixed

store listing - descriptionโˆ’ rejected+ fixed
Removed: Official Google Translate extension - #1 rated by millions.Removed: Free VPN included. Works on every site.Added: Translate selected text with DeepL from the right-click menu.Added: Needs your own DeepL API key. Not affiliated with Google or DeepL.Added: Also adds a "Translate page" button on sites you allow.

Every claim in the new text is a feature that works today. The "Official" and "#1" wording is gone, and the listing states that the extension is not affiliated with Google or DeepL.

Why you got Red Nickel

  • Features in the description or screenshots that don't exist yet.
  • Undisclosed actions such as changing the search engine, injecting ads or affiliate links, or redirecting pages.
  • A name or icon that looks official, like "Google Translate Pro" or a copied logo.
  • Claims you can't back up: "#1 rated", "used by millions", fake badges or endorsements.
  • Screenshots of a different product or an old version.

Common mistake: Red Nickel often comes with Red Potassium or Red Silicon. Fix the listing and the behavior together, because reviewers check both.

Appeal or resubmission note

Replace the [BRACKETS], then use the appeal link in your rejection email. Keep it short and factual, and list only changes you actually made.

Hello Chrome Web Store team,

My item [EXTENSION NAME] (ID: [ITEM ID]) was rejected with reference Red Nickel.

I have reviewed the policy and made the following changes in version [NEW VERSION]:
- Rewrote the listing so it only describes shipped features: [FEATURES].
- Removed [CLAIM / BRAND] and added an explicit non-affiliation statement.
- Disclosed [BEHAVIOR] in the description and in the extension UI.

[ONE SENTENCE ON WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES AND WHY IT NEEDS WHAT REMAINS.]

I have resubmitted the updated package. If anything still does not comply, I would appreciate a pointer to the specific file or listing field so I can fix it.

Thank you,
[YOUR NAME]
